Honoring Deaner and Terry From 'FUBAR 2': Best Slacker Heroes

Peel yourself off the floor, pull on some sweatpants, pat down your mullet and get ready to shotgun some Pilsners. Oh yeah, It's time to 'give'r' once again. Almost a decade after their debut, two of our favorite slacker heroes are back: Deaner and Terry. These two lovable losers won our hearts in 2002's 'FUBAR', the now-classic mockumentary about a couple of hosers who just want to have a good time.

They're back in the much-anticipated 'FUBAR 2.' This time, they leave Calgary, Alberta in pursuit of lucrative oil jobs up north. Here's hoping this newfound ambition doesn't interfere with their ability to give'r, because really, who wants to see slackers grow up and get jobs? Slacker heroes resonate with the little slackers in all of us. We envy them because, at times, we wish we didn't have jobs and bills and that annoying sense of responsibility.

Slackers are completely uninhibited. They don't march to the beat of society's drummer. They eschew social norms and expectations to live the life they want, completely in the moment with no regard for future consequences. If they want to pass out on the floor, sleep til late afternoon, wake up, shotgun some beers and throw cans into the street, they just do it. And sometimes, they can even achieve heroic feats, like beating testicular cancer. Or making Farrell's grieving mom laugh at an off-color joke at his funeral.

In honor of Deaner, Terry and 'FUBAR 2,' we present a list of the best slacker heroes of all time.

Warning: Most of these clips contain foul language! View at your own risk!

1. The Dude. All he wanted was compensation for his rug. He didn't deserve to have it peed on, man. The hero of 'The Big Lebowski' gets unwittingly sucked into a mystery, which doesn't gel with his lifestyle of laying low, drinking White Russians and bowling. But he handles himself impressively, rarely losing his cool or over-exerting himself. He even gets laid along the way. Righteous.
2. Harold & Kumar. Harold doesn't technically qualify as a slacker, what with his ambitious Wall Street job. He does get sucked into Kumar's epic quest for delicious, tiny burgers, though. Kumar, being the good slacker that he is, exerts his slacker influence on his more industrious friend, and unleashes Harold's inner slacker as their adventure progresses. For that, as well as ultimately achieving his goal of reaching White Castle, Kumar deserves a high ranking on this list. Harold gets a nod, too. Because hey, where would Kumar be without him?3. Wayne and Garth. These two get a lot done for slackers. They have their own TV show. They organize an epic rock concert. They romance ladies. All without compromising their slacker ethos. We're not worthy.4. Jay and Silent Bob. This duo also gets points for remarkable slacker accomplishments. Remember when Silent Bob dangerously dangled from the mall rafters to expose the slimy Fashionable Male sales clerk (Ben Affleck) for being a first class jackass in 'Mallrats'? Or when they nonchalantly duel against Mark Hamill in 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back'? They know how to get stuff done.
5. Deaner and Terry. They may not have lured Tron back to slacker-dom, but they sure know how to give'r, without giving in to the man, yo.6. Beavis and Butthead. They just wanted their TV back, and they wind up saving America from a stolen biological weapon. Minimal effort, epic results. Classic slacker heroes.7. Jeff Spicoli. He ordered pizza in class. How awesome is that? Even if that were the only thing this 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' slacker hero (played by Sean Penn) did in the entire movie, he would still make this list. Just for that.8. Romy and Michele. These two lovely ladies are slackers. Big time. But they want people at their high school reunion to think they're wildly successful and, like, y'know, not slackers. So like any good slackers, they fake it. And Michele reconnects with a nerdy billionaire who loves her for her slacker self. Take that, A-Group mean girls!
9. David Wooderson. This guy knows his crowd. The twenty-something 'Dazed and Confused' slacker, played by Matthew McConaughey, knows he can impress those high school girls without a whole lot of effort. Instead of over-exerting himself by pursuing girls his own age, he opts to pick the low-hanging fruit as the "cool older guy." Watch the leather, man.10. Bill and Ted. Why read books when history can come to you? These two slacker heroes lived out every lazy high school kid's dream by experiencing history through a time machine instead of having to get through boring textbooks. Totally excellent!
